Gianni Sacco (prof and Milan player): “This Super League risks being a sort of living crib of the play station”
PAVIA. “The Cup of the Immortals”, “1899 AC Milan-The stories” are just two of the books written by the “Rossonero fan” Gianni Sacco, a professor of comparative public law at the Department of Law of the University of Pavia. At the moment, due to the pandemic, he defines himself homeless as he cannot occupy seat 11 – row 07 – sector 267 of the San Siro Stadium, which for more than forty years has been the main seat of his business and interests.
Have you already chosen whether to take the side of those in favor or against the Super League?
«Having not yet fully understood how the situation will evolve, at the moment I have chosen not to express judgments. Skin I don’t particularly like the idea, even if I’m not prejudiced against it. But I admit that I am more than anything else afraid that it is just a sort of relaunch in the dark to save a toy that financially no longer has the prospects to hold up ».
What do you mean by toy? All the football world?
“Yes unfortunately. It is as if it were a kind of announcement of a future tragedy, namely the economic collapse of the entire world of football. But let’s wait and see what will happen: it could become a kind of football NBA or a sort of trophy of the Breme onion festival ».
It seems to understand that he is not so scandalized by the hypothesis, almost as if in the end he expected what was announced on Sunday.
“In fact, not only not at all scandalized, since all companies are now companies. Romantic and merit football is long gone. It no longer exists, so we don’t think she lost her virginity just now. This is why it annoys me today to hear all the opinions of those who argue that football must remain a matter of the people and of the opposing supporters. It hasn’t been for a long time and people have moved away from stadiums to make it a television phenomenon. The Superlega would be nothing more than the living nativity scene of the play-station ».
Can you imagine a Serie A without Juve, Milan and Inter?
«Of course not, 60% of the catchment area of the football product would be cut. It would be like making a movie with extras … nice, maybe but where would the famous names be? And anyway, even from a legal point of view, I see no holds to exclude the teams that join the Super League, if anything they could sanction them ».
And his Milan?
«It’s part of the discussion … By now the owner of Milan is an investment fund, he has to do business and not the happiness of a poor man like me. Having said that, at least, in this last season, we have returned to see him play at least in a decent way ».
In your opinion the most positive player?
«Kessiè has matured and has become of absolute international level. A top player, to use that bad word! ” –
