According to the Basketball Association, the target athletes for the five-man men’s basketball team include: active registered athletes in the CBA league, athletes selected for the talent pool of the second national team (19-22 years old) recently, and athletes who played in overseas leagues during the national team selection. The target athletes of the five-person women’s basketball team include: active registered athletes in the WCBA league, athletes selected for the talent pool of the second national team (19-22 years old) recently, and athletes who played in overseas leagues during the national team selection. Overseas leagues specifically refer to the European, American NBA, American G League, American NCAA League and Australian Professional League, etc. Athletes who played in overseas leagues in the current year are selected directly into the warehouse, and do not occupy the following 50 places.
The 50-person quota for the five-person men’s and women’s basketball team is based on the ratio of “45 people + 2 people + 3 people”. The composition method and steps are as follows: “45 people” are based on the final matching performance of the athletes of the current season of CBA/WCBA and the CBA/WCBA of the previous season. “2 people” is based on the performance of the second CBA or WCBA season before the selection work, and the supplementary storage is obtained. For example, the 2021-2022 season is the CBA/WCBA season where the selection work is carried out, and the second season before the selection work refers to 2019 -2020 season CBA/WCBA. “3 people” are recommended by the athletes selected into the national second team talent pool and recommended by the national second team coaching staff. For young athletes aged 19-22 who are not included in the database according to the above conditions of “45+2” but are selected into the talent pool of the second national team and are being selected, they can use this 3-person quota to be included in the database.
In terms of three-person basketball, the 24 men’s basketball team consists of 16 CBA league players, 4 Super 3 league players, 2 NBL league players and 2 CUBA league players. The 24 women’s basketball team consists of 22 WCBA league players and 2 CUBA women’s basketball league players.
