The 2021 “Bozhou Cup” National Chess Fast Chess Championship opened on the 17th in Bozhou, Anhui. This is the first National Chess Quick Chess Championship, and it is also the first time it has been used in the competition after the Chinese Chess Association issued the “Calculation and Implementation Methods for Chess Player Quick Chess Rating (Trial)”.

The competition includes two groups of fast chess and blitz chess. The competition items are men’s and women’s individual competitions. A total of 104 players signed up for this tournament, 65 men and 39 women, of which 102 players participated in the two groups of fast chess and blitz chess at the same time. The 104 chess players include 14 male super masters including Wang Tianyi, Zheng Weitong, Jiang Chuan, Lu Qin, and Zhao Xinxin, as well as 7 female super masters including Tang Dan, Wang Linna, Chen Xinglin, Zhao Guanfang, and Dang Guolei.

A total of 5 preliminary rounds of the fast chess group were held on the first day of the competition. Zheng Weitong and Jiang Chuan led the men’s standings with 4 wins, 1 and 9 points; Tang Dan, Wang Linna, Tang Sinan, Zhao Guanfang, Zhang Tingting and Wu Kexin temporarily ranked first in the women’s team with 8 points. The final of the fast chess group will start on the morning of October 19th. The preliminaries of the ultra-fast chess group will start on the afternoon of the 19th, and the finals of the group will be held on the morning of the 21st.

Guo Liping, secretary-general of the Chinese Chess Association, said in his opening speech that fast chess is a form of chess sport and has always been loved by the majority of chess enthusiasts. With the opening of the Kuaiqi Championship, the “Chinese Chess Association Player Kuaiqi Rating”, which considers the ability and level of chess players in Kuaiqi, was officially launched. This is an important node in the history of the development of chess business, and it is a chess project in the sports competition performance industry. An important extension of the Chinese Chess Association is also a key focus point for the Chinese Chess Association to meet the needs of the majority of chess fans.

After review and research, the Chinese Chess Association approved the Bozhou Sports Federation to become a “National Xiangqi Township Member Unit”. At the opening ceremony, Lu Qin, vice chairman of the Chinese Chess Association, presented the “National Chess Hometown Member Unit” plaque to the Bozhou Sports Federation.
