The power plant now plays and studies in Trieste. “My old companions played a great match”
For six seasons she wore the women’s Belluno Volleyball uniform. But last Saturday, for the first time, she took the field against Belluno on the opposite side of the net. For Anna Bortoluzzi, the central player born in 2002 who moved to Trieste a few months ago where she attended university and played in the local B2 club, the championship match against Captain Fantinel’s Lupe was anything but a match like the other. And even if the result (3-1 for the Bellunesi) did not satisfy the Trieste women, Anna Bortoluzzi’s evening as a great ex was no less special.
What game was it, first of all?
«On Saturday we found a Belluno in great shape», says Bortoluzzi, «capable of bringing home some important points. For our team, however, it was a really tough match. For two weeks we trained in a few for various problems and, moreover, both setters were injured during the week forcing us to play with a formation that has been reworked and never tried. But surely we could have groped to win some points ».
How was it to find “your” Belluno?
«The situation on the pitch was certainly particular and I must admit that often some smiles have escaped from the net, forcing us not to look at each other in order to remain serious. The girls know that I always follow them, watching the live matches and that I am always their first fan. Furthermore, I was also very pleased to see all the staff I grew up with in Belluno, from the coaches Dario and Paolo to the manager Claudio Casanova. Obviously, my biggest thanks go to them for having raised and trained me, not only in terms of volleyball but also humanly ».
What idea did you have of coach Pavei’s team?
«I am really happy for them for the game on Saturday. I imagined that, despite the presence of very young girls, the team was fierce. The two bands Fantinel and Fioretti can certainly be defined as fundamental pillars that led the team to victory. I am also happy that many young people have the opportunity to gain experience on the field immediately and that they can improve more and more every day ».
Do you miss Volleyball Belluno? What did you say to each other before or after the game?
«Volleyball Belluno will always be part of me and I’m sure I will always miss it. The good moments spent in these 6 seasons cannot be removed and will surely remain etched in me. My former companions have been fundamental in the past years and they still are today, so much so that I hear many of them almost every day. Saturday night was like reliving the past, but obviously in a different way, all immortalized by some photos we took at the end of the game, but this time with two different kits. They know how much I care, above all thanks to the group formed by the smallest of last year with Chiara Lozza, Sara Ingrosso, Miriana Casagrande, Giulia Zambon and Francesca Fioretti ».
How is your new experience in Trieste going?
«I’m finding myself very well in Trieste, both from a university and volleyball point of view. The change was total but living with my teammates helped me a lot. The team is made up of all new girls, we are creating a nice cohesive group. Now we definitely want to concentrate on the next matches and continue the good work we are building every day in the gym ».
