Angelo and Rosy lift the trophy. Only Andrea is missing, who crashed in the race. And the 14-year-old Lorenzo Mascherini, as expected, lined up everyone

The Italian Downhill Cup speaks Canavese. This was decreed by the rankings of the races held last week, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September in Doganaccia, a fraction of the Municipality of Abetone Cutigliano, in the province of Pistoia. As widely predicted Lorenzo Mascherini, 14 years old from Prascorsano of the Ancillotti factory team in the Beginners category has climbed to the top step of the podium. But the real surprise was the father-daughter couple Angelo and Rosaria “Rosy Fuz” ”Fuccio, respectively 57 and 26 years old from Castellamonte, also on the top step of the podium. Well, in Tuscany, but not only, the Canavese and also the Aosta Valley.

The Ancillotti factory team is still celebrating with Lorenzo Ancillotti, 8, from Valperga who won the Rookies race in the under 10 category in Prato Nevoso, in the province of Cuneo. Another athlete of the Valperuguese company who stood out was Sophie Riva, 18 years old from Pontey (Aosta), third classified in the under 21 category of the enduro World series of Loudenvielle in France.

Returning to the Doganaccia race, Lorenzo Mascherini won first place in the Beginners category by bending the resistance of twenty other very strong athletes from all over Italy and thanks to this record he also won the Italian championship with full merit, thanks to a test made up of a lot of courage, determination and desire to continue the path undertaken in all these last years.

The same determination shown by Angelo and Rosaria Fuccio. The already multiple Italian champion “Rosy Fuz” tells us: «On Saturday 4th September we made the qualifications and I managed to conquer the pole for the next day’s race. I also took the opportunity to learn more about the route made up of very technical sections and others where you had to go fast and let go of the brakes and so the next day I gave my all again and managed to get the better of it, beating all the opponents. I was also lucky not to make any mistakes neither on Saturday nor on Sunday, even if I risked falling in qualifying, but luckily everything went well. Unlike my 30-year-old brother Andrea, who unfortunately crashed in the final after qualifying and had to retire. Sin”.

Rosaria Fuccio took the lead in the Italian Downhill Cup, just a few minutes away from her father Angelo who says: «Ours is a healthy competition. There is competition but we know practically everyone. If my father runs before me, I try to watch his test and cheer him wildly, so will he towards me. I cheered for Rosy and Andrea and then they did the same for me on the track. This atmosphere is beautiful that you breathe not only in the race but also during the various training sessions we do weekly ».

Angelo Fuccio then concludes: «I am very proud to have finished first in my Master 6 category. It was not easy at all, but I was very concentrated both in qualifying and in the race, always giving my best and in the end the efforts paid off». Loris Ponsetto
