A product of the Strambinese blue nursery, Riccardo Vescovi, 18 years old from Strambino, a fifth year high school student at Gramsci di Ivrea, is experiencing a season as a protagonist in the first team of the Strambinese 1924. Seventeen matches, of which thirteen in the league (First category group B) and also two splendid goals, one in the Piedmont Cup against Valle Cervo and another in the league, in the derby against Vischese at Stefano Acotto, Vescovi explains: “I started playing football at the age of 9 among the ranks of the Strambinese 1924. I did the whole process and this year I am taking away a lot of satisfaction by playing in the first team which was my main goal since the first day that I wore the blue shirt of the Strambinese and the shoes and I moved the first steps as a footballer – he says – At the beginning of my career I was inside in midfield, while now for a few seasons I have been playing central, but in defense, a delicate role, which I can play also thanks to the constant advice given to me by my more experienced teammates, such as goalkeeper Gillone, my teammate Avetta, midfielder Ferrero and striker Pallante. Speaking of the team, in these first thirteen games we have always been decimated by injuries and we have never been able to express ourselves as we would have liked: the best match played so far was the one against Vischese. It was a derby, we won 0-2 and I also scored the goal with a header worthy of Sergio Ramos, the player I am inspired by – explains Vescovi. Sunday 23 January, Covid permitting, we will resume playing and will recover the match with the Novara players of San Nazzaro Sesia, a match postponed on 18 December due to the ice present on Bertotti’s pitch. Then we will go to Palazzolo Vercellese against the Pro and from February we will start the second leg, with the aim of reaching mid-table ».
