Throwing away the annus horribilis, in which the Covid-19 pandemic dominated, heavily influencing all basketball activity, at Lettera 22 Ivrea looks to the future with renewed confidence. And start again from the C Silver series.
Failure to participate in the anomalous championships set up by the federation last season had no repercussions on the letter environment, ready to leave as soon as possible as evidenced by what is currently the most important news in the Ivrea home. The First team that despite the lack of participation in the D series last season due to a series of circumstances, not least the abandonment of the activity of many clubs struggling with unsurpassable economic problems, was fished out in the C Silver championship, with the reconfirmed Mauro Celani at the helm.
At the moment the formation of the letter roster is under construction as Celani himself says: «Unfortunately we will be without important players such as Adriano Renoldi who, studying in Milan, will play in C Gold in the Bocconi team. We will have a young team in which our captain Degrandi will be the hen alongside the other veteran Gamba. The two senators will be accompanied by the young people of 2003 who did well when they were called into question in the past such as Ravera Chion, Nardi, Sconfienza and Simicic. We are in talks to bring Monfroglio and a couple of other seniors to the grigioazzurro to give more experience to a very young team. The resumption of the activity will take place in the last days of August and all children, starting from 12 years of age, must be in possession of the Green pass as per the protocol issued by the Federation. Access to the gym, for what concerns the spectators, will be reduced to 35% and also in this case everyone must be in possession of the Green pass. This last restriction is the crucial issue to be solved in view of the “Baskets without nets” that the Ivrea association is trying to organize after a year of absence due to the pandemic: “The will is to return to organizing this tournament which represents a flagship of the Letter 22 – explains the letter chairman Paolo Cossavella – I believe that as far as the Italian teams are concerned, there are no major problems. On the other hand, for those foreigners who will have to be hosted by Ivrea families, there are some problems. We will see how the situation evolves, at most we will try, with great regret, to minimize their participation.
