PAVIA

The Paralympic national team of Nordic skiing is gathered in Pavia from today to Sunday. The athletic trainer and logistic organizer of the event is Paolo Marchetti, from Pavia, also coach of the former world champion parathlete Alessandro Carvani Minetti.

Marchetti, who has been following the Italian team for four years, found good conditions in Pavia to be able to train. «The work program of these days foresees two trainings a day for today and tomorrow – explains the technician from Pavia – while on Sunday there is only one morning training session to ensure that everyone can return to their home after lunch. To train we will use both the towpath, especially for roller skis given the excellent road surface and the safety conditions in which you can work, and the Pavia hills for long bike rides. As for the technical staff, I will have in my support the skiman Antonello Brao and from today to Sunday also the psychologist Onorato Valentina ».

The Azzurri who will stay at the Hotel Riz are Giuseppe Romele, who finished in second place in the general classification of the world cup and won four silvers and two golds in the world cup races last season; Cristian Toninelli, the new sit ski athlete Michele Biglione and from Saturday the only Italian Anila Hoxha (sit ski) will return from an injury. «This year – Marchetti closes – we won two golds and four silvers in the world cup. This meeting is useful for continuing to work on the bottom with bicycles and refine the pushing technique with roller skis, as well as being important for preparing the next gatherings on the glacier ». –
