The Prevostura awaits some big names and opens up to the new world of e-bikes

by admin

For fat wheels, October means Prevostura. And it will be the same on Sunday 10th with the mountain bike race that returns to Lessona after a year’s stop due to the pandemic. Restart and renewal in the 22nd edition go hand in hand with a new management team of the Amici mtb Lessona that after eighteen months of waiting are trampling waiting for the start. Leading the partnership is now Umberto Porrino who with his vice president Emanuele Comoglio is looking forward to the time of the big day. «We thought that something fresh was needed to restart and so we decided to change the route. After all, bikers always need news so as not to get bored in the race ». The management team is young and, as such, has focused heavily on communication through social media and which, with registrations still open, is getting good feedback from the network. “Then I want to see on paper – says Porrino pragmatist – the names of the competitors that the sporting directors have proposed to us and maybe we miss the presence of some of the big names who will take part in the world marathon on the Island of Elba the day after tomorrow”. A tradition that is renewed instead, given that in past editions the protagonists of the World Championship have looked out over the hills of Lessons as the last winner of the Prevostura 2019, Samuele Porro, bronze world champion eight days earlier.

Another opening on tomorrow, the possibility of racing with a special ranking for e-bikes, bicycles with assisted pedaling that now whiz by copious off-road vehicles. «It has caught on a lot – explains Porrino – and therefore we have decided to support this type of competition as well. Throughout the year we take care of and maintain the paths, rediscovering the abandoned ones ». There are two paths. The first short is more amateur than 22 kilometers, while the most resilient will ride 48. “Compared to the marathon trials – Porrino concludes – comparable to the stages of the Dolomites, our race is more classic in the north, where you meet walls to climb and steep descents to deal with “.
