On April 12, the selection and training of the Chinese National Go Team of the Hangzhou Asian Games was officially launched in Quzhou, Zhejiang.

Hua Xueming, vice-chairman of the China Weiqi Association and leader of the Chinese national Weiqi team, said that after the Guangzhou Asian Games, after a lapse of 12 years, the game of Weiqi has re-entered the sequence of events of the Asian Games. The Chinese National Go Team will actively prepare for the battle and strive for the best results.

There are only 151 days left until the opening of the Hangzhou Asian Games. It is reported that the selection training is divided into three stages, which will be held in April, May to June and August this year.

The first stage of selection in Quzhou started on April 9 and ended on April 13. It was divided into two groups, male and female, with 5 selected by men and 4 selected by women. In the second stage, the men’s single cycle nine rounds, and the women’s double cycle fourteen rounds.

“We will make every effort to do a good job in logistical support, and fully implement various epidemic prevention and control measures, so that everyone can train with peace of mind and improve their level.” Xu Zhangyan, deputy secretary of the Quzhou Municipal Party Committee and acting mayor, said.

It is understood that Quzhou is striving to build a “world Go holy place”. In April 2021, the Quzhou Training Base of the Chinese National Go Team was inaugurated locally. This year, China’s first local regulation involving Go was officially implemented in Quzhou City. (Zhang Bin Fu Feiyang)
