SASSARI. “A unique emotion”. This is the first comment of Marco Munda, born in 1992, goalkeeper of VerdeAzzurro, after being summoned by the technical commissioner of the Italian beach handball team, Vincenzo Malatino. “I am honored to wear the blue jersey, I will give my best as always,” says Munda who has been included in the men’s Blue Team, the federal team of the Figh, which this weekend will be engaged in the Isola delle Femmine, in Sicily, in the Champions League. Beach handball cup, in which 27 teams from 11 nations participate. The Italian national team has been included in an iron elimination round, there are in fact the Spaniards of the Ciudad de Malaga, the Swiss of Wasserschloss, the Portuguese of Tigres and the Germans of Beachmopeten.
Marco Munda started playing handball in his city, in Carrara. “Then I decided to change scenery and for some years I have been playing in Sassari with VerdeAzzurro”. How do you play the role of goalkeeper? “I try to be a point of reference for the team, it is important that my teammates feel safe, obviously if I speak well, part of the credit is theirs.”
Consequently, the squads for the national team for the Verdeazzurro rise to two. After Riccardo Melidoro (already called for some stages in the Under 17), now it is the turn of one of the most representative elements of the club coached by Patrizia Canu. For Verdeazzurro it is another important recognition of the work carried out in all these years, with great attention to the territory and many local athletes, already very young, who play in the national A2 championship. «For us Marco’s call-up is an honor – says the captain of the Green Blue, Francesco Cherosu -. The coach made an excellent choice: we are sure that Marco will give his best ». For the Sassari company, one more reason to continue on this path.
