Mascia (Torres), Chessa (Castellanzese) and Demontis (Sanremese) among the ten finalists of the award
SASSARI. Three Sardinian footballers are among the ten finalists for the Golden Ball Serie D 2020-21 season, an award organized by the online site Tuttocampo, the online “bible” of the sector.
They are Marco Chessa, striker of Castellanzese (group A), Andrea Demontis, midfielder of Sanremese (group A) and Filippo Mascia, young striker of Torres. The mechanism for awarding the prize: a first list of one hundred candidates is built through the votes of the coaches of all the teams participating in the championship, at which point there is a vote in which all fans can participate. At the end of the first phase the number of candidates is skimmed to ten, followed by a second vote at the end of which the player who will win the D 201 Golden Ball will be elected.
At the start, among the hundred candidates there were big names like Francesco Lodi, Francesco Tavano and the former Inter player Maicon, while as regards the Sardinian teams, besides Mascia, Stivaletta and Piredda del Carbonia, Varela del Lanusei, Nurra and Scotto del Carbonia were selected. But who are the three Sardinian players who can aspire to conquer the important recognition announced by the Tuttocampo five years ago? Mario Chessa, 28 years old from Porto Torres, is the top scorer in the whole series D, with the Castellanzese shirt he has so far scored the beauty of 25 goals that have projected the Lombard team to the top of the standings.
