Semifinal conquered. The Eporediese Stefanie Horn begins her journey at the Tokyo Olympic Games on the right foot. This morning at the Kasai Canoe Slalom Center the program of canoe slalom races officially opened with the qualifying heats of K1 women and C1 men. The Italian Navy, in the test for kayaks (K1), takes off the pass for the semifinal, scheduled for Tuesday 27 July, obtaining the fourth best time overall.
On the brand new Tokyo artificial canal, Stefanie closed the first heat dominated by the German Ricarda Funk (99.90) with the ninth time (109.82). The blue is agile and fast in the upper part of the course but weighs down his test right in the final by undergoing a 2 ”penalty for a touch of the pole at the penultimate goal (24). In the second “run” the Horn is impeccable, she does not lose focus even on the most insidious passages and closes with the fourth time in 104.79, qualifying for the semifinal. Best time for Australian champion Jessica Fox who shows off a capital performance in 98.46, ahead of Ricarda Funk (101.56) and New Zealander Luuka Jones (101.72). Fifth the reigning Olympic champion, the Spanish Maialen Chourraut, in 105.13. In the semifinal (single test) there will be 24 athletes and the best ten will reach the final.

The other Azzurri in the race, led by the technical director Daniele Molmenti and assisted by the federal technician Omar Raiba, will go into the water on Wednesday 28 July: Giovanni De Gennaro (Carabinieri) will be at the starting gate for the K1 heats at 14.37 and 16.47 (7.37 and 9.47 in Italy), while Marta Bertoncelli will make her Olympic debut in the qualifying “runs” of C1 at 13.00 and 15.10 (6.00 – 8.10 Italian).
