Trost has decided, he will train in Germany: “I needed something new”

The jumper from Pordenone will be based in Berlin where she will live with her boyfriend: “I can’t wait to start this path”

The conditions for staying in Italy, she admits too, were there. «From a technical point of view it was worth trying a new challenge – he says -. But I no longer put athletics in front of everything. I’ve done this before and it didn’t work. I also need other things to make the most of it ».

So Alessia Trost opted for a radical change. The high jumper from Pordenone, born in 1993, will live and train in Berlin, where she will be followed by a German coach.

In this way she will reach her boyfriend Alberto in Germany, a former “colleague” on the platform, who works in the capital and with whom he lived in Como.

The athlete, blue at the Rio and Tokyo Games, will move permanently at the end of the month. Thus he will leave the trainer Roberto Vanzillotta and Lombardy, the last “base” after having trained from 2016 to 2019 in Ancona with Marco Tamberi, father and coach of the Olympic champion Gianmarco.

«I can’t wait to start – said the jumper, who has two meters of personal best -. I have been to Berlin and to the pitch where I will train immediately after the Games. I was curious to see what my life could be and what it could become.

I am convinced. How enthusiastic I was to move from Pordenone to Ancona I am also now, when I decided to face the experience for the first time in my career ».

It was now certain, at the end of the season, the technical divorce from Vanzillotta. Before moving to Berlin she had also evaluated the possibility of staying in Italy, where she had trained even before the Games. However, other aspects affected the final choice.

«We have good technicians here, who deserve trust – said Trost -. However, I no longer felt like starting all over by myself, in a new city and where I don’t know anyone.

Athletics is a fundamental part of my life, mind you, but I also need the support of the people who love me ». They are important mechanisms for an athlete. With her boyfriend, with whom she already lived in Como, it will certainly be easier.

«I could also have returned to Pordenone – explained the 28 year old from Friuli – but I preferred to make this choice. In this regard, my club, the Fiamme Gialle, have supported me and for this I can only thank them. I repeat: I look forward to starting this path ».

In Germany she will always be followed at a distance by her trainer Carlo Buzzichelli, with whom she started collaborating a year ago. With her plans she has resumed training alone in Como, then in Berlin she will start taking care of the technical part with the new coach.

The goal is to make its mark in the major events of 2022, in particular at the outdoor world championships in Eugene (United States). In a few months Alessia will be 29 years old and wants to collect the results that, so far, for various reasons, she has not been able to achieve.
