Rome, 8 August 2021 – We will be watched even more by speed cameras, telelaser and Tutor. They won’t leave us for a moment, from here to Norway. From tomorrow in August the countryside is on the air on the roads of Europe Speed, thought by Roadpol – European Roads Policing Network, a network of EU traffic police – which, as the word suggests, aims to counteract excesses of speed. Switzerland, Serbia and Turkey also joined. Eye: the system Tutor – which in Italy monitors 144 motorway sections, a total of 1,400 kilometers of network (here the list) – will also be used to verify the instantaneous speed, not just the average one anymore. A possibility that the tool has always provided for, also applies to Vergilius on the state (here the list). Of course, the objective of the campaign remains road safety, with the halving of accidents envisaged by the European plan, between now and 2030. However, it is inevitable to expect a new surge in fines, in the first six months of this year the electronic eye of Sicve -PM allowed the Stradale to almost detach 800 minutes per day, in any case down compared to the previous year. Because in 2020, despite the lockdown, the penalties were even 1,064 every 24 hours (a total of 142,804 against 191,595).
The patrols
Every day they watch over motorways and major roads 1,400 patrols police, says the Stradale. Rather than increasing the number, in this week of the Speed campaign the crews will be assigned the objective of using more than ever all the technological tools available to counteract excesses of speed. But, it is clarified, the checks will not only concern motorists. Particular attention will in fact also be paid to Tir and bus, for example the tourist ones, since they are the days of the great exodus. The patrols will then carry out checks on digital or analog tachographs to analyze driving behavior by X-rays.
War on distraction
And if the speed – latest Istat data on 2020 – remains the third cause of accident, al first place we find The distraction, followed in second position by the lack of precedence. The efforts of all European police forces are concentrated on this. The Dutch one has just launched a new type of smart camera, the MONOcam, capable of recognizing who is driving and in the meantime holds the mobile phone.
