Pay-TV has unsuccessfully tried to bring football matches back to the satellite The proposal was deemed late, but the commitment with Tim continues

Milano

No agreement: Dazn has rejected Sky’s proposal of 500 million euros per season to the sender, with the television management of Serie A at the center. An offer put on the plate by Comcast pay-TV to try to bring all Serie A back to the satellite through not only the Dazn app on Sky Q but also through a linear satellite channel, as has happened in recent years.

An offer that, according to sources close to the transaction, was nevertheless considered late and thus already rejected: but we must not forget the disagreements of the past months between the two broadcasters, which culminated in Sky’s appeal to the Court of Milan against the assignment of the TV rights of the championship in the next three years for an alleged violation of the Melandri Law, an appeal which was then withdrawn in agreement with the League to acquire the rights to three Serie A matches a day in co-exclusive. Dazn will therefore continue its work in partnership with Tim to offer the best possible OTT sports experience to fans. An agreement, the one between the streaming platform and the telco, which should be exclusive, as suggested by Luigi Gubitosi in recent weeks: “The agreement is covered by nda, a confidentiality clause, but we can say that it is similar to the one with Disney. So we are the only telco that can distribute season tickets, ”Gubitosi explained during the press conference commenting on the latest financial statements.

On the other hand, news are expected next week regarding the stew-times, after the discussions in the last meeting in the clubs. The proposal would see matches on Saturday in four different windows (14.30, 16.30, 18.30 and 20.45) and those on Sunday in five (12.30, 14.30, 16.30, 18.30 and 8.45 pm), in addition to the race on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, the Lega Serie A assembly, held yesterday via video link, unanimously resolved (19 votes in favor out of 19 entitled, Salernitana not yet present) the modification of the invitations to offer the Italian Cup on the international territory (three-year period 21-24) to incorporate the recent change in the format of the tournament, which will see a total of 44 teams take to the field, including 20 from Serie A, 20 from Serie B and 4 from Lega Pro. The clubs have also unanimously approved the remaining packages for the foreign territory of the Italian Cup and the In-Flight and In-Ship Packages. –
