Washington, October 29, 2021 – The controversy over the death penalty the terrible running in Okhlahoma from John Grant, died after a long and painful agony. It was the first execution since the 2015 moratorium in this state. The convict, a 60-year-old African American, after the first of three lethal injections had strong convulsions and vomited many times.

According to reports from CNN, the medical staff of the prison had to enter the execution room several times to wipe the face of the condemned.

After a nightmare quarter of an hour Grant was declared unconscious at 4.15pm. At this point the other two substances were administered that led to the condemned man’s death, declared at 4.21 pm. Grant was sentenced to death in 2000 for having a prison employee killed, when he was serving a life sentence for several robberies.

But it will not end like this, the torture suffered by Grant brings back the controversy over the death sentences with lethal injections: in the viewfinder the drug sedativo Midazolam.

The executions of the death sentences had been suspended in Oklahoma in 2015, as a consequence of the death a year earlier of a convict who had not lost consciousness, and had accused convulsions after injection of the drug under indictment. This time the procedure was interrupted, but the prisoner had died of a heart attack an hour later.
