Rome, 21 July 2021 – For those who have had Covid, that’s enough a single dose of vaccine. The says it circular of the Ministry of Health, approved in the evening and signed by the Director of Prevention Gianni Rezza, who updates the
vaccination schedule for subjects recovered within a maximum period of 12 months.

“It is possible to consider the administration of uone dose of vaccine anti-SARSCoV-2 / COVID-19 in subjects with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, provided that vaccination is preferably performed within 6 months from the same and in any case no later than 12 months from recovery “, we read in the circular entitled ‘Update of information on vaccination of subjects who have had a SARS-CoV-2 infection’, addressed to institutions and regions. The indication, it is specified, is valid both for those who have a symptomatic and asymptomatic disease.
However, the measure clarifies an exception: for subjects with immunodeficiency conditions, primary or secondary to pharmacological treatments, in case of previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, “the recommendation to continue with the complete vaccination schedule provided” remains valid. For these fragile subjects, therefore, the indication remains to carry out the administration of two doses despite the previous infection. Another indication contained in the new provision concerns the use of test anticorpali, which should not be done before vaccinating to decide whether to immunize or not. “As indicated by the World Health Organization – the ministry reiterates – the execution of serological tests, aimed at identifying the antibody response to the virus, is not recommended for the purposes of the vaccination decision-making process”.
