Elias Pettersson also got the opportunity to represent Sweden and win a Gold medal in the IIHF World Championship held in 2018. He played only 5 games due to a fractured thumb but contributed to the significant victory of this national side. On May 9th, 2019, Pettersson was recalled in the national side for the world championship event being held in Bratislava, Slovakia. His team finished 5th on the table in this event and didn’t have any medal under their belt.
