Great balance up to the siren, the ducals start better carried away by Giorgi then suffer the return of the Romagna
VIGEVANO
Elachem Vigevano sees the Super Cup final fade at the last second in a head-to-head match against Faenza.
Nice ducal start
The ducals attack the game well and immediately put Faenza a few points away. Giorgi from below is determined and enthralling, Procacci’s bomb gives the first detachment, but Faenza manages to return.
In the final from a distance, from an impossible position, Nicolò Gatti takes care of scoring and closing with Vigevano who has a double-digit advantage. On his return Petrucci plays the charge with two triples and approaches Vigevano, coach Piazza calls a time out and Serra is forced to give Poggi rest, who is already two fouls. The Gialloblu take advantage of this to increase their advantage reaching up to +13, but from the bench in Faenza the coach prefers to put Poggi back and increase the defensive pressure. The recipe is right and the usual Petrucci covers almost alone (he closes the first half with 11 points) the furrow and sends Vigevano to the long break with only four points ahead (33-37). The return to the third period for the yellow and blue is a cold shower.
Counter pass
The Romagna players start playing fast and organized basketball. Real from three seems infallible, while the boys from Piazza rebound away leaving several second shots in attack to the opponents. In 7 ‘they put a break of 17-4 and in Vigevano everything seems to go wrong, even if in the last minutes the pair Peroni-Mercante to the basket both from below and from distance seems infallible and Vigevano arrives -3 at the beginning of the last period with all still to be played and in the balance.
The first 5 ‘are still and always a point-to-point race with Vigevano who seems to prevail, then Faenza finds in Reale once again the man capable of playing the charge and making a difference. The play perfectly replaces the injured Vico in the role of top scorer. First from 2 and then from 3 brings the result to 68-65 with 2 ‘from the end.
Vigevano does not give up, however, and first with Gatti on the free then with a solitary serpentine by Procacci, he manages to bring the game back to yet another parity (68-68), guaranteeing the last possession.
In the end, however, the ducals, usually lucid in these conditions, mess too much. First on a goal kick Petrucci steals the ball and scores, then Gatti puts a 1/2 to the free throw in the line, which effectively extinguishes the hope of the Gialloblu to access the Super Cup final scheduled for this afternoon. –
