Olympia Voghera surprise PalaRavizza, knocking out Sanmaurense on the fourth day of return of group E: the team of coach Franchini, thanks to a partial of 24-7 in the third period and to the couple Sackey-Gay (32 points in two ), obtains a fundamental success against Edimes of coach Fossati (the third in a row), hooking it in the standings. For the hosts, without Poggi and Cattaneo, Ragni’s 17 points are not enough to avoid the second consecutive defeat.
At the start the score is low (12-14 the first quarter partial) and the defenses prevail, especially that of the guests, very aggressive on the opponents ball carriers. Voghera tries to escape twice on 4-8 first and then on 7-11, but the attempts are always punished by the hosts, led by Ragni (7 points in the first 10 ‘). In the second quarter the derby lights up: Infanti and Ragni himself call, Banchero, Bruciamonti and Gay answer and guests are still ahead (19-23 at 13 ‘). Then it is Ragni again who gives the shock, this time with a triple, well assisted by Degrada, who brings his forward on the counterattack (26-25 at 15 ‘). After the break
Upon returning to the field after the long break, the long Vogherese continues to be unstoppable and Barbieri places two consecutive bombs, while Sanmaurense suffers passively: the result is a 13-0 partial host for 39-53 in the 23rd minute. Pagetti unlocks his team with a free throw, then the match is interrupted by numerous whistles from the referees which also lead to the expulsion of Infanti (sum of unsportsmanlike and technical): Voghera takes advantage of this to increase the advantage at 30 ‘(46-64). The game basically ends here, also because Edimes is no longer able to recover, despite the 14-5 of the last period: Voghera wins the PalaRavizza 60-69 with merit.

Satisfied the coach of the guests, Erich Franchini: «The boys were good at winning a very physical match». The two teams will again face each other tonight at the PalaOltrepo ‘in Voghera for the recovery of the fourth first leg: duo at 21.
