Volley4EU, Phoenix leads the way with young athletes arriving from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia

The project of the European network of women’s volleyball teams is not stopped by the pandemic and is now coming to an end. From 10 to 12 December, Paese will host the first international women’s volleyball tournament “Volley4EU”, an initiative of the European Community that involves young athletes from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, in addition to the girls of the Asd Ufs Phoenix who will make available the own structures for the final act of the project, with the intention of proposing the initiative again in the coming years.

Among the six teams involved, President Carlo Urio’s Phoenix was named project leader. Founded only in 2014, the company was able to emerge immediately and to the point of being noticed by the European Community which chose it to carry out the Volley4EU initiative. In this process, Phoenix is ​​not left alone and has joined forces with the Volley Marca Athletic Center in Postioma. In fact, at the end of June Carlo Urio was also appointed president of Volley Marca, succeeding Armando Brunetta. Born in 1981, Volley Marca is one of the longest-lived teams in the province of Treviso and in the course of its history it has reached the men’s Serie B. On the spur of these satisfactions, the women’s sector was born.

The first “Volley4EU” is just the tip of the iceberg of a great initiative that combines sport and personal growth, is part of the project co-financed by the Erasmus and Volley4EU program, which aims to create the European network of women’s volleyball clubs for the exchange of experiences and good practices with particular attention to the safety of athletes in training and competitions. Furthermore, the initiative aims to contribute to the objectives of the European Union for the promotion of sport, physical activity and healthy lifestyles in the younger generations. The project was born in January 2020 and, due to the hitches of the pandemic, has been postponed until its conclusion is fixed in December 2021, after months in which international meetings and study visits were held in Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia. of each partner team, for the exchange of experiences and observation on the field of the training and preparation techniques of the athletes. The Tournament will therefore be staged from 10 to 12 December in the “Sutto” Sports Hall in Padernello and in the gyms in Via Olimpia and Tre Forni di Paese. –
