Doubts about the Super Final on May 1st in Verona: the postponement is difficult, the Istanbul team risks arriving with a reworked roster

CONEGLIANO. The march of the Imoco Conegliano championship towards the Super Final of the Champions League on May 1st has already begun. But yesterday the news from Turkey broke the yellow-blue’s wait. The Vakifbank recorded ten positives at Covid 19, five among the players and five in the staff.

The names have not been disclosed, but some clues come from the Facebook profile of the Turkish team. Bartsch, Gabi, Haak, Gunes, Ismailoglu trained on Tuesday, while the Serbian setter Ognjenovic does not seem to be there. Two staff members had tested positive after Game 2 of the Scudetto final with Fenerbahce, in the series that was later won by Vakif.

The isolation of two players and also of coach Guidetti was evidently not enough to stem the pandemic. And now the Champions League final is at risk.

The postponement is unlikely – there is also the men’s final – due to calendar and organizational requirements; the times for negativization, however, are very short. So the Turks could give up or show up in Verona with a very reworked roster.
