Andreotti’s girls start badly, then strike. In the end, the landlords impose themselves, but it is irrelevant
BOXES. Mission accomplished. The Volpianese in the last game of the first phase of the women’s B2 mini group A2 is defeated at the tie break against Caselle away, but remains first in the standings with 22 points, one more than Caselle. This is the most important news in the Volpianese home, which however lost after six shifts.
Coach Stefano Andreotti confirms in the first set the formation that had given the best guarantees in the previous six games: in dribble Ivaldi, Rinaldi on the opposite, Tessari and Cane in the band, Ghibaudo and Salvi in the center and Pesce free. The departure of the Volpianese in the first fraction, however, is negative: the landlords instead start with a thousand, not making a mistake either in serving, nor in reception and not even in attack. Coach Andreotti’s team, on the other hand, never manages to get into the game, they are always below the score and in the end they have to give up 25-16. At the interval Andreotti plays the charge and the Volpianese of the second fraction is a whole other team: much more concentrated and determined sub-net, with the game being point to point for large sections of the match. However, this time it is Ghibaudo, among the best in the field and teammates, who draw the score by winning the partial 23-25. A success that gives morale to the guests, who know that, to obtain the mathematical certainty of first place in the mini group A2, it is still enough to win a set and that’s what they do in the third part: rocket start of the Volpianese, which leads to 12-20, then in the final Caselle returns to the game, with the game going to the advantages and to win again the Volpianese, who wins 26-28. Conquered the record, the Volpianese eases the pressure and is punished by a Caselle who does not break down and wins again 25-16, equalizing the score of the match. Finally, in the tie break, the Volpianese changes sides 6-8, before collapsing in the final 15-11. Now a month off and then from May to the second phase, in the coming days the Federation should communicate the dates and the formula for promotion to B1.
In the same group, the match between Pinerolo and Labormet Torino for Covid-19 was postponed, while, as was to be expected, Chieri beat the Piossasco parquet 3-0.
