Zhejiang Women’s Pole Vaulters Overcome Injuries to Win Championship and Runner-Up

On March 3, despite facing obstacles due to injuries, two famous women’s pole vaulters from Zhejiang, Chen Qiaoling and Xu Huiqin, showcased their grit and determination by competing in the 2024 National Indoor Games. Both athletes emerged victorious by clinching the championship and runner-up titles in the women’s pole vault competition during the second leg of the Track and Field Grand Prix.

Chen Qiaoling, the Asian Championship champion, expressed her ambition to qualify for the Olympics this season, emphasizing her unwavering dedication towards this goal. Although neither Chen nor Xu has secured a spot for the Paris Olympics, both affirmed their commitment to giving their all in pursuit of the coveted Olympic ticket.

Xu Huiqin, the champion of the 13th National Games, faced a challenging recovery from a serious sprain injury sustained last year. Despite initial doubts, Xu showcased resilience by participating in the competition, demonstrating her determination to bounce back stronger.

Similarly, Chen Qiaoling battled a recurring back injury following the National Student (Youth) Games in the previous year. However, her perseverance and dedication to recovery culminated in a commendable performance at the recent event.

While Xu Huiqin faced setbacks during the competition, Chen Qiaoling’s meticulous approach and support from the team doctor fueled her successful jump over 4.40 meters. Both athletes displayed resilience and determination, setting a compelling example for aspiring pole vaulters.

Looking ahead, Xu Huiqin aims to enhance her strength and regain confidence in outdoor competitions to surpass the qualifying mark for the Paris Olympics. On the other hand, Chen Qiaoling plans to accumulate points and refine her technique for future success.
