Ma Long and Lin Gaoyuan emerged victorious in the men’s doubles event at the 2024 World Table Tennis Professional League (WTT) Singapore Grand Slam, defeating another Chinese pair Wang Chuqin and Fan Zhendong in a thrilling final. This marks Ma Long and Lin Gaoyuan’s first win at the Singapore Grand Slam, securing the men’s doubles championship trophy.

The intense final saw Wang Chuqin and Fan Zhendong take the lead in the first game with a score of 11:6. However, Ma Long and Lin Gaoyuan quickly turned the tables, winning the second game and maintaining their momentum throughout the match. In a tense fifth game, Ma Long and Lin Gaoyuan secured the victory with a score of 14:12, showcasing their skill and determination.

On the women’s doubles side, Chen Meng and Wang Manyu clinched the title by defeating the Chinese Taipei duo Zheng Yijing and Li Yuchen with a score of 3:0. The experienced pair of Chen Meng and Wang Manyu dominated the match, not giving their opponents many opportunities to seize control.

Despite his success in the doubles event, Ma Long faced disappointment in the men’s singles competition, being eliminated in the second round. Reflecting on his performance, Ma Long expressed his acceptance of the outcome and his determination to adjust his mentality moving forward.

In other matches, the women’s singles semi-finals featured two intense “Chinese Derbys,” with Wang Yidi and Wang Manyu emerging as victors. In the men’s singles event, Liang Jingkun and Wang Chuqin secured victories to help the Chinese team clinch the men’s singles championship and runner-up positions.
