On March 17, Beijing time, the 2022 World Table Tennis Major League (WTT) Singapore Grand Slam ended the seventh day of the main competition. In a women’s singles quarter-final just ended in the evening, Xinke World Table Tennis Championships champion and Chinese player Wang Manyu defeated Austrian Polkanova 3-0 (12-10, 11-8 and 11-2) and advanced to the semi-finals .
In the first game, Polkanova led 4-1 and entered the middle game. After that, the two scored alternately. Before the end of the game, the Austrians held a three-point advantage 8-5. At the end of the game, Wang Manyu succeeded in receiving and serving consecutively, and once won two game points 10-8. At the critical moment, Polkanova was not soft, and soon it was tied at 10. In the end, Wang Manyu succeeded in a strong attack, 12-10 in the next game.
The 4-1 leader at the start of the second game became Wang Manyu. After entering the middle game, Polkanova made a beautiful pair to tie the score at 6. After that, the two sides battled to 7 draws and 8 draws. At the critical moment, Wang Manyu made a backhand and made another victory 11-8.
After 2 draws in the third game, Wang Manyu scored two points in a row, leading 4-2 into the middle game. After that, Polkanova made a wrong serve and quickly called a timeout. After returning from the suspension, Wang Manyu continued to control the situation. In the end, Wang Manyu succeeded in serving and attacking, securing the victory 11-2.
