CASTELLAMONTE

Among the twenty players of the Italian national team who will participate in the under 18 European baseball championships that will take place in Italy there is also the Canavese of Bairo Edoardo Zingarelli.

The 17-year-old is registered with the Castellamontese club of Red Clay, but this year he is on loan at Porta Mortara in Novara. The championships will take place in Macerata and Montegranaro. At the beginning, 80 players had been selected by Francesco Aluffi, manager of this national team. The group after three rallies was reduced to 40 and in the end Aluffi chose the 20 players to take to the European championships in the category.

The European Championship in Macerata and Montegranaro will be particularly important: the two finalist teams will qualify for the Wbsc World Cup scheduled for this year in Bradenton and Sarasota (Florida, USA).

The convocation rewards the young Canavese, who has seen him engaged since the age of eight with Castellamonte, the Turin baseball academy and Porta Mortara. His dream of wearing the blue jersey in an international tournament has come true. Bairo’s boy, who has been in the blue tour for four years now, had never managed to participate in an event of this level. –
