Good news from Zinho Vanheusden. The Standard captain was released from the Brussels Erasmus Hospital on Monday evening after his heavy fall during Union-Standard. An MRI scan will have to show later this week whether Vanheusden can still play this season.

On Sunday evening, a few hours after the match, there was the reassuring news that Vanheusden had not suffered any fractures in his fall. However, the defender suffered from excruciating pain, caused by a previously developed hernia, which had suffered a blow during the fall. Vanheusden was given morphine and could hardly move during the night from Sunday to Monday, but during the course of Monday he started to feel better and was allowed to leave the hospital.

Vanheusden calls on a renowned back specialist for medical follow-up. He will undergo an MRI scan on Wednesday or Thursday, which should provide more clarity about the severity of his injury. At best, the problem can be solved with a simple infiltration and the defender will only have to miss one or two games. In the worst case scenario, he has to go under the knife and his season is over.(thst)
