Apple: Swedish Epic Games developer account was banned due to untrustworthy behavior pattern!

Apple has made headlines once again, this time with the global termination of the developer account of Swedish Epic Games. The tech giant claims that this drastic action was taken due to Epic Games’ untrustworthy behavior pattern.

Earlier this year, with the implementation of the EU Digital Market Law, Apple was required to allow third-party app stores and payment methods in the EU. In response, Epic Games announced plans to open an Epic Game Store in Europe and bring Fortnite back to the market. However, Apple’s recent ban on the Swedish Epic Games account has raised concerns.

According to Apple, the ban was a result of Epic Games’ serious breach of contractual obligations to Apple. As a result, the court ruled in favor of Apple terminating the developer account of Swedish Epic Games and any other entities under their control. Apple cited Epic’s past and ongoing behavior as the reason for their decision.

Epic Games had originally planned to use the Swedish Epic Games account to open the Epic Game Store in Europe and bring Fortnite back to iOS. The ban has been seen as a significant setback for Epic Games, who accused Apple of blocking potential competition in the App Store.

This latest development adds to the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Epic Games, which began in 2020 when Fortnite was pulled from the App Store for introducing a direct payment scheme that bypassed Apple’s payment system.

The ban on the Swedish Epic Games account underscores the ongoing tensions between tech giants and app developers over issues of competition and control within the digital market. The future of Epic Games’ presence on iOS devices remains uncertain as the legal battle between the two parties continues.
