There is an entirely Italian technological soul within the national supercomputing champion Galileo 100. E4 Computer Engineering from Reggio Emilia won the 19 million euro tender for the upgrading of Galileo 100, the supercomputer of the Cineca Interuniversity Consortium and system Tier-1 cloud for public scientific research capable of serving over 5 thousand users.

E4, which beat international competitors in the tender, is a company active in the sector of hardware and software solutions with very high technological content for artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), quantum computing, cloud computing and data analytics.

E4 is based in Scandiano (Re), in a strategic geographical position in relation to the Emilian Data Valley: not far away, in Bologna, is the Tecnopolo, which hosts the national supercomputing centre. The company has collaborated for years with national research centers such as Enea and Cineca and international ones such as Cern, to which it provides the infrastructure and support for computer centres. The company currently finds itself managing over 18 research-related projects across the European Union.

Last year E4 recorded a 23% growth in turnover compared to 2022, reaching around 27 million euros. The awarding of the 19 million tender in this first part of 2024 confirms the double-digit growth trend for this year too.

A growth that follows the growth of the AI sector in our country which in 2023 recorded a +52% compared to the previous year and which does not intend to stop.
