Fallout game gets big boost after TV series premiere – Fallout 4 – Gamereactor

The Fallout Series Continues to Surge in Popularity with Fallout 4 Leading the Pack

The Fallout series has been making waves recently, with the critically acclaimed TV adaptation sparking renewed interest in the video game franchise. According to recent data from Steam, Fallout 4 is now one of the top 30 most played games on the platform, boasting approximately 35,000 concurrent players.

This resurgence in popularity is particularly noteworthy considering the game was originally released in 2015. The last time Fallout 4 saw such high player numbers was during a free weekend event held by Bethesda in 2018. It’s clear that the buzz surrounding the TV series has reignited interest in the game among both new and returning players.

Adding to the excitement is the upcoming official release of Fallout 4 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X on April 25th. Currently only available via backwards compatibility, the move to next-gen consoles is expected to bring a significant boost to the game.

But Fallout 4 isn’t the only game in the franchise experiencing a resurgence. Fallout: New Vegas has seen around 8,500 concurrent players on Steam, the highest level since August 2022. Similarly, Fallout 76 has also seen a spike in player numbers, with nearly 18,000 concurrent players – the highest level since October 2022, when the game was free for a week in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary.

With interest in the Fallout series reaching new heights, many gamers are finding themselves drawn back into the post-apocalyptic world. Have you felt the urge to revisit a Fallout game in light of the recent surge in popularity?
