From March Canon will make available the imagePROGRAF GP 7-color large format printer series, developed for those who provide commercial and in-house printing services. The line was designed primarily for high-end poster making, but is also suitable for other graphic arts applications, such as photographic printing. Three models are part of it: imagePROGRAF GP-6600S 60”/1524 mm and GP-4600S 44”/1118 mm – which replace imagePROGRAF PRO-6100S and PRO-4100S – and GP-2600S 24”/610 mm .
Greater productivity with large format printers
The combination with the new Lucia Pro II1 pigment ink allows, in addition to a high color rendering thanks to the extended range of bright and precise colors, also a better preservation of the images. Among the strong points is also the greater productivity, which allows you to create A0-sized posters on uncoated paper in just 48 seconds. seconds. The new 7-color Lucia Pro II ink set used with imagePROGRAF GP includes orange, which reproduces more vibrant colors, and gray for smooth skin tones. The color gamut from the new imagePROGRAF GP series accurately reaches 96% of the PANTONE FORMULA GUIDE Solid Coated2, making it ideal for printing corporate colors.
A resistant color
The Lucia Pro II ink set allows you to create longer-lasting prints thanks to the improved resistence to abrasions on photographic paper. Posters and other printed materials are less exposed to the risk of scratches during handling, transportation and assembly. Furthermore, the presence of a pigment with high lightfastness, it significantly increases color fastness, potentially allowing printed works to be preserved for 200 years.
Regardless of the user’s skills or experience, the new imagePROGRAF GP series is easy to use. Furthermore, thanks to the ink distribution monitoring system, simple settings and media management, it allows you to increase productivity. Furthermore, the double reel system offers the opportunity to load a second media of a different type and format. So it is possible, for example, to automatically switch between printing on glossy and matte paper without interrupting the workflow. Speeding up the process diet automatic media loading time has been reduced by approximately 40%.
Attention to the environment
In line with its aim to reduce the environmental impact of its products and operations, Canon has limited the use of polystyrene in the packaging of the new imagePROGRAF GP series. The packaging of the GP-4600S, for example, contains 89.5%5 less polystyrene than the previous model. Furthermore, the reduced energy consumption – 94W or less when in operation and 2.2W or less when in standby – with respect to other parameters, allowed the new series to win the title of Gold product. This is the highest level of certification in the field of imaging equipment, according to the American environmental assessment system EPEAT6 (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool).
