Samsung Introduces New Galaxy AI Features to Break Language Barriers

Recently, Samsung unveiled its latest artificial intelligence (AI)-powered feature, Galaxy AI, aimed at making communication easier among people from different parts of the world. This innovative technology is integrated into various tasks such as image editing, audio transcription, text summarization, Google search using photos, and real-time call translation.

One of the standout features of Galaxy AI is its call translation function, which has the potential to revolutionize cross-cultural communication by eliminating language barriers without the need to learn a new language. This feature supports multiple languages and their regional variants, including English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Spanish.

For Spanish-speaking users, Galaxy AI now allows communication with speakers of Arabic, Indonesian, Russian, Cantonese, and Canadian French. Samsung plans to add four more languages by the end of the year to further enhance the user experience.

TM Roh, president of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, stated that the expansion of Galaxy AI’s language capabilities aims to democratize mobile AI and facilitate communication across borders. The technology was initially introduced with the Galaxy S24 lineup but is compatible with other Samsung devices as well.

Currently, Galaxy AI features are available on select devices such as Galaxy S24, S23, S23 FE series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 models. Samsung intends to extend the functionality to more devices in the future but has confirmed that the features will be free until the end of 2025 on compatible devices.

While Samsung has assured users that Galaxy AI functions will remain free for the foreseeable future, the company is exploring potential monetization strategies. Earlier this year, Samsung tested a subscription model for advanced AI functions in China, charging an annual fee for exclusive features associated with WPS Office. However, the global implementation of such a model is yet to be determined.

As Samsung continues to innovate with Galaxy AI, users can look forward to enhanced communication capabilities and a more seamless digital experience.
