MacPaw announces that Project Setapp is expected to become the first unofficial iOS app store in the EU

Apple to Release iOS 17.4 to Comply with EU Digital Market Law

In order to comply with the European Union’s Digital Market Law, Apple is expected to release iOS 17.4 on or before March 6. One of the major changes in the update is to allow users to download and install the software through third-party stores other than the App Store. However, these changes apply only to iOS programs in the EU region and not to iPadOS.

MacPaw, a software development company, has announced that it will launch the Setapp app store on iPhones in the EU starting in April. The Setapp app store has been available on Mac for some time and offers a subscription service for $9.99 per month. Users can access a variety of programs including Ulysses, iStat Menus, Spark Mail, Unite, Yoink, and more.

MacPaw stated that the iOS beta Setapp program will provide users with 5 carefully selected application combinations, ranging from productivity and business tools to creative and design software. Setapp will also be open to applications from developers interested in joining the platform.

MacPaw’s decision to launch an iOS unofficial app store in the EU market comes after Epic Games made a similar announcement. The company is now accepting applications from users who are interested in testing the Setapp app store on iPhones.
