Microsoft Edge Gains Market Share by 1% in One Month, According to Latest Data

Despite complaints of forced promotion, Microsoft Edge has seen an increase in desktop browser market share by 1%, as per the latest statistics from Statcounter. While still significantly behind Chrome, the growth is being seen as a positive result, potentially attributed to the built-in AI function of Microsoft Edge attracting users.

The market share for Microsoft Edge at the end of January 2024 stood at 12.96%, marking a 1% increase from the end of December 2023. In comparison, Chrome’s market share fell by 0.39% from the end of December but still maintains a high market share of 64.84%, topping other browsers by a significant margin.

Apple Safari, despite its weaker platform on desktop, holds a 8.83% market share, followed by Mozilla Firefox at 7.57% and Opera with a 3.23% share.

On the mobile platform, Chrome also dominates with a 64.74% market share, followed by Safari with 25.07%. Samsung Browser, Opera, and UC Browser round out the top five with 4.39%, 2.15%, and 1.36% market shares, respectively. The presence of the Firefox browser on mobile phones is noted as weak, with no detailed statistics currently available.

The overall market share data highlights the ongoing competition among browsers, with Microsoft Edge making notable gains and Chrome maintaining its stronghold across desktop and mobile platforms.
