New Data Shows Increasing Trend of Android Users Switching to iPhone

According to the latest data from CIRP, a market research organization, there has been a steady increase in the proportion of users who have switched from Android to iOS in recent years. The data reveals that between 11% and 15% of Android users have made the switch to iPhone, with all of these switching users being male. Interestingly, these users also tend to have higher incomes compared to existing iPhone users, despite opting for older or cheaper iPhone models.

The data from CIRP also provides insights into the trend of Android users transitioning to iPhone from 2019 to 2023. The percentage of iPhone buyers who switched from Android to iOS during this period is as follows: 2019─13%, 2020─11%, 2021─11%, 2022─15%, and 2023─13%. While many of these users opt for older or cheaper iPhone models, a significant percentage choose to purchase the latest Pro or Pro Max models.

In 2023, CIRP’s report indicates that 29% of old Android users who switched to iPhone purchased models such as iPhone SE 3, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 mini, while existing iPhone users accounted for approximately 21% of these purchases. The report highlights that the affordability of lower-priced iPhone models may be a primary reason for these switching users to choose them, especially if they were accustomed to using budget-friendly Android phones in the past.

Furthermore, some users who have switched from Android to iOS may not feel the need to invest in the latest iPhone models with all the newest features. CIRP suggests that for these users, the allure of entering Apple’s ecosystem, utilizing features like iMessage and FaceTime, and pairing their iPhone with AirPods may be sufficient reasons to make the switch.
