Frogwares Announces Sequel to The Sinking City, Set to Release in 2025

During the Xbox Partner Preview show, Ukrainian developer Frogwares confirmed that a sequel to their successful game The Sinking City is in the works. Titled The Sinking City 2, the game is set to debut in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, promising to push the series in a new direction.

The game will be set in the infamous 1920s Arkham City, now plagued by a supernatural flood and Eldritch monsters. Players can expect a survival horror experience, with rising waters constantly changing the landscape and exploration possibilities. Sergiy Oganesyan, publishing director at Frogwares, stated, “We’ve created quite a few detective adventures in the past, so now we’ll be mixing things up a bit. We want to keep doing what people love about us – story-rich experiences – while still being able to grow.”

The announcement press release revealed that The Sinking City 2 will feature melee and gun-based combat, a semi-open world to explore, resource gathering elements, and optional puzzles that lead to new secrets and lore. The game will also utilize the Unreal Engine 5 and offer detective elements as optional gameplay mechanics.

To help fund additional features for the game, Frogwares plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign. Given the current situation in their home country of Ukraine, the campaign aims to provide financial security for the developers and secure funding for the game.

While an exact release date has not been announced, fans can expect The Sinking City 2 to arrive in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming sequel.
