ASUS Confirms AM5-Pin Motherboards Can Support AMD Ryzen 8000 Series Processors

Intel and AMD are making significant changes to their processor pins, with Intel switching to the LGA 1851 pin for its Arrow Lake-S processors and AMD using the AM5 pin for its 600 series chips. In light of this, ASUS has announced that its current AM5-pin motherboards will be able to support AMD’s next generation Ryzen 8000 series processors through BIOS updates.

The 600 series motherboards, including X670E, X670, B650E, B650, and A620 chips, will be compatible with the new processors. ASUS has launched a total of 47 motherboards under various series, such as ROG, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, Pro Art, Prime, EX, and AYW, to accommodate these changes.

While the current 600 series chip motherboards can support the upcoming Ryzen 8000 series processors, each motherboard manufacturer is expected to release new models specifically designed for the new generation of Ryzen processors. Users may need to decide whether to update their BIOS or invest in a new motherboard to fully optimize the performance of the latest processors.
