Users of Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook in the mid-afternoon had problems accessing their social networks. The Downdetector site recorded a peak of reports between 16:00 and 18:00 in Italy, while many messages with the hashtag #Instagramdown and #Whatsappdown began to circulate on Twitter. The problem now seems to have gone away.
Meta, the hoding that owns the three social networks, has not made any statements regarding the problems encountered by users. The reports, which arrived from all the main Italian and European cities, began to diminish after 18:00 and at the moment there do not seem to be any further disruptions.
