On June 5th, 2023, Apple again presented some hardware and software innovations as part of a Worldwide Developers Conference (short: WWDC).

At the event, the new VR glasses Vision Pro, a MacBook Air with a 15-inch screen and numerous new operating systems were presented.

The rumor mill has been brewing for a long time, now the cat is finally out of the bag: Apple is launching AR/VR glasses! This announcement alone made WWDC 2023 a special event. But it didn’t stop with the long-awaited Vision Pro, instead Tim Cook presented one new product after the other. Here is an overview of all the highlights!

What was presented at WWDC 2023?

During the event, Apple presented several new products and operating systems. New products include the long-awaited Apple Vision Pro – AR/VR glasses – and a new 15-inch MacBook Air. 1. Apple Vision Pro

Apple has finally officially announced the Apple Vision Pro augmented reality headset, which has been the subject of countless rumors for months. Vision Pro should be used primarily in the field of augmented reality, but the glasses can also switch to full VR mode. Control is via looks, gestures and voice control. A separate operating system called visionOS was also developed for the AR/VR glasses. The most exciting features of Vision Pro include its 3D camera and the ability to stream movies or use the device as gaming glasses. Apple Vision Pro is scheduled to launch in Spring 2024 and will cost $3499.00.

2. MacBook Air with 15 inch screen

The new MacBook Air has a 15.3-inch display for the first time and has been equipped with the M2 processor, a 1080p webcam, six speakers and a battery life of up to 18 hours. At the same time, it is only 1.15 centimeters thick and according to Apple it is currently the thinnest 15-inch notebook available.

3. Operating systems for iPhone, iPad and Co.

Fall 2023 is coming macOS 14, codenamed Sonoma, bringing widget support and new moving screensavers to Apple fans’ MacBooks. There will also be new features for video conferencing, enhanced security features and a password replacement called Passkey. Coming to the iPhone iOS 17 with a poster feature that displays contact information in large format on the recipient’s iPhone. Particularly exciting: Thanks to the new software, voice messages should be able to be transcribed in the news app and exact locations can be shared more easily with ‘Check In’. There is also the option of sending any emoji or a section of a photo as a sticker in iMessages.

The iPad also gets along iPadOS 17 a new operating system that allows you to work with widgets on the home screen. In addition, you will be able to freely design your lock screen in the future and keep an eye on fitness and health information in the Health app. In addition, with iPadOS 17 it is possible to save and edit PDFs in the Notes app. Unsurprisingly, the Apple Watch also notices watchOS 10 a software update. New features include new watch faces and an improved Sport feature. In addition, the widgets are returning to the Apple smartwatches and the Digital Crown is getting new control features. Last but not least was also tvOS 17 presented for Apple TV. The update ensures that you can finally use FaceTime on the big TV screen. There are also some security and smart home updates.

4. M2 Ultra und AirPods

Apple’s M2 Max and M2 Ultra processors are also getting an upgrade. The M2 Ultra is basically two M2 Max CPUs that promise a performance increase of up to 30 percent compared to the M1 Ultra. The computers are built into the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro.

Last but not least, music fans will also get their money’s worth. There will soon be a firmware update for the AirPods, which artificial intelligence can use to help determine the optimal volume in every situation.
