2 June, the celebrations for the Republic Day

ROME. The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, on behalf of the United States of America, writes to our country on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Republic. “On this day, Italy and the United States celebrate our shared heritage and values, including freedom, democracy, the rule of law and thriving cultural ties.” Millions of Americans, he says in the note, “proudly claim the Italian heritage and family, testifying to the lasting relationship between our two nations and the mutual commitments that are close to our hearts”.

«Italy and the United States – adds Blinken – are partners engaged in a series of global issues: cooperation in the defense sector, energy security and green transition, food security and more. Italy continues to play a key role as we work together to counter Russian aggression, to support the Ukrainian people and to respond to Putin. We honor Italy’s role as a vital NATO ally, committed to our common ideal of a free and prosperous Europe ». The US Secretary of State then addressed his “best wishes to the Italian people on this feast day”.
