5 Facts Regarding the Ngawi Bus Accident Carrying Hanura Party Cadres and Sympathizers, Three Victims Died

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – On Sunday morning, February 4 2024, a fatal accident involving a bus of a group of Hanura Party cadres and sympathizers occurred on the Solo-Ngawi toll road, Central Java (Central Java).

A total of three people died in the traffic accident. The news of the accident was confirmed by the Head of Highway Patrol Unit 6, East Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate (Polda Jatim), Inspector M Saifuddin.

“Yes, that’s right, the accident happened this morning, at around 06.17 WIB. It involved an Efa Transjaya bus with the license plate number W 7401 UO which was driven by Catur Pancoro (47), a resident of Tulangan, Sidoarjo,” said Saifuddin, Sunday 4 February 2024.

He explained that the bus carrying a group of 18 Hanura Party cadres and sympathizers was on its way home from the grand campaign event for presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Senayan, Jakarta on Saturday 3 February 2024.

Saufuddin said that at that time the bus was going from west to east or Solo to Surabaya. Arriving at KM 554,600 A of the Solo-Ngawi Toll Road, the bus was traveling in the slow lane and intended to overtake a truck in front of it.

It is suspected that due to lack of concentration, the bus hit the median, then rolled over, dragged and hit the road guardrail. As a result, the bus body was badly damaged in a transverse position, covering the Solo-Ngawi toll road.

“As a result of this incident, three people reportedly died at the scene, including the bus driver,” said Saufuddin.
