The Palestinian National Authority reported today that it gave the bullet that killed the Al-Jazeera journalist Abu Akleh | to American forensic experts. Akleh, a veteran journalist of the Arab-Israeli conflict and well known in the Middle East, was covering the evacuation of a refugee camp in Jenin when she received a blow to the head that cost her her life. Witnesses and colleagues on the spot immediately accused the Israeli army. The Palestinian Attorney General Akram al-Khatib he said the bullet was passed to US experts for “a technical evaluation” and reiterated the refusal to share the key evidence with Israeli authorities. She also insisted that any international investigation into the incident is welcome if it is aimed at “confirming the truth”.
