AC/DC concert in Zurich sold out in eight minutes

As part of the “Power Up” tour, named after their last studio album, the band around cult guitarist Angus Young is playing 21 concerts in ten countries. The 47,000 tickets for the concert at the Letzigrund stadium in Zurich were sold out within eight minutes, the organizers wrote in a statement on Friday.

At the “Powertrip” festival in California last October, AC/DC made their live comeback after a seven-year break. There had already been rumors about a tour. Last week, AC/DC further fueled the speculation with a countdown on their website.

The 68-year-old band founder Angus Young, who always appears in school uniform, and the 76-year-old singer Brian Johnson are the last remaining members of the AC/DC line-up that recorded “Back In Black” in 1980, one of the most successful albums in music history. Rhythm guitarist Stevie Young succeeded band founder Malcolm Young, who fell ill in 2014 and died in 2017.

New to the band is 55-year-old drummer Matt Laug, who performed with the group for the first time at the “Power Trip” festival last year. 53-year-old former Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney also replaces Cliff Williams, who has retired.

The European tour also takes the rockers to Germany, Italy and England.
