China News Agency, Bangkok, August 6th (Reporter Wang Guoan) Thai officials reported on the 6th that 21,379 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia have been added in the past 24 hours, which has reached a new high for many consecutive days, with a total of 714,684 confirmed cases.
On the same day, Thailand had 191 new deaths, which also broke a single-day record. There were 5854 deaths in total.
The Thai capital Bangkok has 4,700 new confirmed cases on the 6th, continuing to rank first in the country. The Lung Tsai Chu, Samut Prakan, and Chonburi provinces around Bangkok also had more than 1,000 confirmed cases that day.
Recent surveillance data from the Thai Ministry of Health show that 74 of the 77 provinces across the country have detected cases of Delta mutant strain infection. After analyzing the collected samples of confirmed cases, 78.2% of the confirmed patients in Thailand were infected with the delta variant strain, while the proportion of those infected with the delta strain in Bangkok accounted for 86.2% of the total number of confirmed cases in the local area.
As the number of confirmed cases soared and the supply of medical beds exceeded demand, a large number of patients in Bangkok were isolated at home. According to statistics, as of August 5, nearly 100,000 confirmed patients have been isolated at home in Bangkok.
In order to strengthen the screening work, Bangkok City will set up 6 rapid screening points in 6 key districts in the city from August 7th, with an average of 3,700 people being screened every day.
