The German incidence index has set a new high since the outbreak for the seventh consecutive day, rising to 289

[China News Service Berlin]The situation of the new crown epidemic in Germany is getting worse. The country’s disease control agency announced on the 14th that the number of newly confirmed infections was 33,498, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases exceeded 5 million for the first time, reaching 5.021 million. The country’s official morbidity index used to monitor the severity of the epidemic has set a new high since the outbreak for the seventh consecutive day, rising to 289.
The German disease control agency Robert Koch Institute announced that the number of new diagnoses and the number of new deaths were 33,498 and 55 respectively. As of that day, a total of 5,021,469 people were diagnosed and 97,672 people died. Among them, the country’s official “accumulated number of newly confirmed cases per 100,000 people in seven days” (incidence rate index) used to monitor the severity of the epidemic rose to 289 on the same day, setting a new high since the epidemic. There were 93 new patients requiring ICU intensive care treatment, bringing the total number to 3,034. As of that day, Germany had received 114.8 million doses of the new crown vaccine, and a total of 56.1 million people had been fully vaccinated, accounting for 67.5% of the country’s total population.
In response to the fourth wave of epidemics that were more severe than the same period last year, the German Federal Government has agreed with the states to hold a meeting on the 18th of this month to discuss the direction of follow-up epidemic prevention policies.
Before the federal meeting with the states, from the 15th, many states, including the capital Berlin, have planned to increase epidemic prevention measures in advance. Among them, Berlin will fully replace the previously implemented “3G rules” with the “2G” rules, that is, most indoor venues will no longer accept people who have been tested for the new crown, but only accept those who have been fully vaccinated or have been infected with the new crown virus. And two types of people who have recovered will enter.
