Afghanistan: Taliban expose hanged body in Herat

by admin

The Taliban hanged a body from a crane in the main square of the city of Herat. This was reported by a witness to the Associated Press, while some videos are being shot on the web. Wazir Ahmad Seddiqi, who runs a pharmacy on the side of the square, explained that four bodies were brought to the scene and three were moved to other squares in the city for display. They would have been captured during a kidnapping attempt and killed by the police. In recent days, one of the Taliban leaders had announced a return to executions and hand amputations.

The witness from Herat, quoted by the Associated Press, explained that the Taliban, arriving in the square where there was the hanging, announced that four criminals had been captured during an attempted kidnapping and killed by the police. But it is not clear whether in a firefight or after their arrest, such as execution.

The Taliban have not made any comment so far, but yesterday Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, one of the movement’s founders and the main perpetrator of their harsh interpretation of Islamic law, when they were in power in the 1990s, declared that Quranic students would restore executions or amputations to punish certain crimes, although perhaps not in public.

The Taliban regained control of the country after the withdrawal of American and allied troops decided on August 31 by President Joe Biden.
