Afghanistan, the fear of the Taliban seen from the Montessori kindergarten in Kabul

by admin

Maria Montessori called it “the intelligence of the hands” and it was with maps, colors, letters of the alphabet in wood or drawn and painted on paper, that in Kabul until a few days ago they played and learned. With his hands indeed, and singing in different languages: Dari and Pashto, the two officers of Afghanistan, but also in English. All this took place at the Garden of Flowers, a Montessori kindergarten for children aged three to six in the Afghan capital.

On Sunday 15th August, the children and their teachers, Rohina and Sahra (for safety reasons, we do not publish real names), were in the classroom like every day.
