Against South Korea in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Quarter-Finals, the Indonesian National Team Turns Out to Have Fantastic Market Prices

Facing the match against South Korea, the Indonesian national team will certainly lose the Swansea City defender who is on loan at SC Heerenveen, Nathan Tjoe-A-On. The player has returned to the Netherlands to strengthen his club which is currently in the Eredivisie competition.

As is known, Nathan’s call-up from the start was a tough challenge for the U-23 Indonesian National Team. The club was reluctant to give the player its blessing to carry out international duties because the U-23 Asian Cup was not on the FIFA agenda.

It was only after PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir carried out a long lobby that SC Heerenveen was willing to let Nathan Tjoe-A-On go. However, Garuda Muda can only use his services until the group stage phase has been completed.

PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) member Arya Sinulingga also confirmed the agreement between the federation and the Eredivisie clubs. According to him, the results of the lobbying required Nathan to leave for the Netherlands after leading the Red and White to advance to the quarter-finals.

“Yesterday, we lobbied Nathan’s club. From these results, at first it was really hard for them to let Nathan go,” said Arya.

“The Chairman (Erick Thohir) asked directly so that at least (Nathan) could (play until) qualify for the top 8, because that was our initial target there,” he continued.
